
MILTON-UNION – The Covington Buccaneers opened up their season with a victory against Fairlawn on Thursday, July 30th and then lost their first match against Milton-Union on Monday, August 3rd.
The opening match against Fairlawn was on the home course at Echo Hills, which benefitted the Buccaneers in an impressive win in 181 to 197 strokes. Boston Koffer led the Buccs with just 40 strokes, while Finn Rogers had a solid performance with 43 strokes.
Brant Angle recorded 48 strokes in the first golf match at the high school level and Brairen Denson recorded 50 strokes. Caiden Hollingsworth tallied 52 strokes and Gavin Clark finished with 55.
Covington then lost to Milton-Union in the opening TRC matchup by the strokes of 174 for the Bulldogs and 187 strokes for the Buccaneers.
Finn Rogers led the Buccs with 43 strokes, while Brairen Denson compiled 46 and Boston Koffer 47. Three Buccaneers finished with more than 50 strokes in nine holes as Caiden Hollingsworth had 51, Jackson Hollis 42 and Brant Angle 56.
The next matchup for the Buccaneers is an Invitational at Fort Loramie tomorrow.
