COVINGTON – The Covington Lady Buccs softball team had a memorable season by compiling a 21-8 record and several players were rewarded with post-season honors.
Freshman Ava Hartwig received the highest honor by earning first team All-Ohio. Hartwig, who played shortstop for Covington, put together some impressive stats throughout the season as she racked up 57 hits on 97 at bats with a batting average of 0.588, an average that was the highest in the Three Rivers Conference. Hartwig also accumulated 51 runs, 12 doubles, 3 triples, 4 home runs, 22 stolen bases and was tied with teammate Emalyn Johnson for second in the TRC with 37 RBI. She had an on-base-percentage of 0.653 and a slugging percentage of 0.897.
Hartwig was also named first team all-conference in the TRC, along with senior Karyanne Turner. Karyanne led the league with 39 RBI, was third in the league with a batting average of 0.521 and tied for second in the league with 10 wins as a pitcher.
Senior Kamryn Barnes, sophomore Jayda McClure and freshman Emalyn Johnson were selected as second team all-conference, while junior Elizabeth Coblentz and sophomore Taylor Foutz were named honorable mention in the TRC. Johnson was tied with teammate Ava Hartwig for second in the league with 37 RBI, while Kamryn Barnes was fourth in the TRC with 34 RBI.
Jayda McClure, Emalyn Johnson and Ava Hartwig all had 4 home runs, which was tied for third in the TRC.
