COVINGTON – Friday was a “Senior Night” contest against Lehman in honor of the lone senior on the Covington softball team, Elizabeth Coblentz, and the game went perfect in honor of her as the Lady Buccs recorded a dominating 13-0 victory in five innings.

Elizabeth Coblentz is a special lady who gives so much of herself for others, which is the standard established by her outstanding parents. Her attitude and mentality is amazing and has had a huge impact on so many people within the school system and the Covington community.

It was apparent from the start of the game that the entire team wanted to make this evening a special night for Elizabeth as the Lady Buccs broke the game open in the first inning by scoring 10 runs.

The Lady Buccs then scored two runs in the second and another run in the third even when rotating the entire roster onto the field to give each player an opportunity to have an impact on the game.

Overall, Covington racked up 13 hits on the night with four of them being home runs by Ava Hartwig, Whitney Burns, Kylie Palsgrove and Emalyn Johnson. The four home runs advances the team total to 35 on the season, which is now eight more home runs than the previous school record from 2023 when that team connected on 27 home runs.

What also made the night special was the outstanding game Elizabeth Coblentz played as she recorded a hit and drove in a run on a sacrifice bat. Her team-first mentality was on display from start to finish, which she has put forth in every game throughout her entire career.

What also made this night special for Elizabeth was when she was able to see her younger sister, freshman Gabby Coblentz, connect on a base hit down the right side of the field.

The win improves Covington to 14-7 overall and 7-3 in the TRC. Next up is a road game at Riverside tomorrow (Saturday).
