The Covington Buccaneers overcame a slow start to the season where they were on the losing end in the first five games. The Buccs rallied to win eight of their next 12 games, but unfortunately dropped their final five games of the season to finish with an 8-14 record.
The Buccs finished tied with Miami East and Riverside for second in the Three Rivers Conference standings as all three teams fielded an 8-6 league record. Troy Christian won the TRC with a 14-0 conference record.
In the first round of the sectional tournament, senior Jensen Wagoner threw six perfect innings against Bethel. Unfortunately, he ran out of pitches and Bethel was able to take advantage with the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to hand Covington a 1-0 defeat.
Jensen Wagoner and Jake Dilley earned first team all conference recognition, while Trey Schmelzer was named second team in the league. Kody Nelson and Tyler Jay were named honorable mention.
