TROY – Senior Meg Rogers and freshman Whitney Burns combined to throw a perfect game in a 23-0 victory over Troy Christian on Wednesday in TRC action. The duo didn’t allow any base runners and combined to strike out six batters.

Covington tallied 22 hits and scored 11 runs in the first, one in the second, six in the third, four in the fourth and one in the fifth for a run rule victory.

Mara Newhouse hit a home run and drove in five runs, while Nigella Reck drove in five runs on a team-high four hits.

Covington improves its record to 18-3 overall and 9-1 in the TRC. Next up is a showdown at Milton-Union tomorrow (Thursday) with huge TRC implications on the line.
