NEW BREMEN – Good programs are always willing to challenge themselves against top-tier teams and that’s what the Covington Lady Buccs did on Saturday as they faced three very strong programs – Versailles, New Bremen and Lima Shawnee.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to face some of the best competition in the area and show what we’re made of,” commented Covington coach Ellie Cain.
The Lady Buccs ended up dropping all three contests, but were very competitive throughout the day.
Covington opened up the day playing Versailles, the #2 ranked team in the state in Division III. The Lady Buccs lost 19-25, 20-25.
Covington then played the #2 state ranked team in Division IV, New Bremen. The Lady Buccs dropped both sets 16-25, 13-25.
To end the day Covington played DII Lima Shawnee and lost 22-25, 12-25.
Covington’s record is now 11-6 overall and 9-1 in the TRC, but made strides through the three losses. The Lady Buccs will travel to Milton-Union on Tuesday evening to resume league play.
