GREENVILLE – The Covington Buccaneers extended their season by qualifying as a team to the district tournament by placing third in the sectional at Turtle Creek in Greenville on Tuesday where the top four teams qualify.

It wasn’t an easy day for Covington as the Buccaneers had to overcome some tough situations where balls were hit in difficult spots. Fortunately, the Buccs were able to maintain their focus and get out of some jams to play well enough to advance as a team.

Junior Matt Dieperink, who has been Covington’s most consistent performer all season, led the Buccs with a team-low score of 78 in 18 holes – a score that was the fifth best in the tournament.

Bryson Hite, a senior, finished with a score of 88, while senior Cameron Haines carded a score of 90 and sophomore Brodie Manson finished strong with a score of 92.

Senior Sam Grabeman overcame a very rough start on the first hole and finished in 104 strokes.

The District Tournament will be held at 10am on Monday, October 2nd at Heathwoode Golf Course in Springboro.
