The Covington Cheerleaders added to their tradition of success by placing 3rd at state in Game Day and 4th at state in Traditional at Big Walnut High School this past weekend.

“Even with limited practice time the girls did awesome,” commented Cheer Advisor Gretchen Schmidt. “The girls were only able to practice four times full out between regional and state. We rented gym time at Tumble U in Piqua.”

The Covington Cheerleaders competed at Centerville High School on February 4th at one of the five cheerleading regionals being held throughout the state that weekend in hopes of getting a bid to state. Covington qualified for state in both of their events, D-5 Game Day and D-5 Traditional.

Covington was one of only seven D-5 teams in the state to advance in Traditional and one of only one of nine to qualify for state, which was held at Big Walnut High School on March 2nd and 3rd.
