The 2022 Covington Lady Buccs put together an outstanding season with a fairly young roster. Despite having only two seniors, the Lady Buccs managed to win a share of the inaugural Three River Conference title with a 10-1 league record. The lone loss came to the other co-champion in the league, Miami East.
Overall, Covington compiled a 18-7 record and advanced to the sectional championship game, only to come up short in a 13-9 defeat to Fort Loramie. Still, the Lady Buccs showed high promise for the future as all but two players will return next season, along with a talented group of freshmen.
Several Lady Buccs earned post-season honors with Nigella Reck leading the way with a first-team selection in the Southwest District after compiling a .600 batting average on 45 hits, 29 runs scored, 13 doubles, 2 triples, 5 home runs and 46 RBI.
Reck also was named first team in the TRC, along with Meg Rogers. Reagan Lemp, Mara Newhouse and Karyanne Turner were named second team in the league, while Kamryn Barnes was named honorable mention.
